Long time no post!

Hello.

It may not be on the order of “After years of waiting…” but yes, I admit I have been tardy in updating. My apologies.

The whirlwind that my project is, carries to drag me in its wake. I work in a cubicle, which, if given a choice, I would not do, nor recommend, and hence, I don’t particularly like being reminded of the fact. But I do have a window-facing cube, and that’s about as good as it gets for now.

And here, then, are the disjointed updates.

  • I wasn’t playing football because I was feeling very lazy over successive weekends to purchase a new pair of studs/cleats/blades (whatever you want to call them). Finally gave in and picked up a pair – Adidas Integrity (Black and gold). I have to say that based on only the first outing (Saturday), they give me better grip (now I don’t slip at all - but then again, it was a hot morning rather than a rainy one) and my dead-ball delivery is far better (two out of three on target and the third went at the intended height if not trajectory, quite serendipitously to an unmarked player on the far post who headed just wide… Rambling? Who, me?)
  • Whenever I give up playing my tackling and stamina go down.
  • I understand that Rafael Benitez’s actions on-and-off the pitch have left everyone baffled, but FFS do not read the papers. The Spaniard knows what he’s doing – and right now we’re second on the table, ahead of 18 other teams. So remember Istanbul – Believe.
  • I’m trying to initiate a sort of clean-up of all my mental todo lists by using Google Spreadsheets. I’ll tell you how that went along.
  • Also, I’m trying to write some things. Small and big.
  • One of the authors I follow on twitter is Justine Musk. Who recommended today on twitter a subtle danger of Kindle and other devices and also (vindicating my stance of why I write unintelligible junk on the company internal blogs) a Telegraph article on how writing is cathartic. Another author? Neil Gaiman. Proof, if any was needed, that twitter has not simply punctured, or broken through, but obliterated the barrier, and then jumped on the pieces. Then fed them to the dogs. And looking at the following Stephen Fry has got, I can’t help but wonder what would have happened if Douglas Adams was on twitter (he’d have blocked me for one thing).
  • I’ve been fairly active, funny (oh shut up you), posting-too-much and spelling-poorly on twitter.
  • Bought a ton of books. Currently I’m reading H. D. F. Kitto’s “The Greeks” – and it’s so well written that it’s twice as engaging as most novels!
  • iPod Video 5.5G and SE Walkman/Cybershot Phone – best way to read ebooks/large TXTs? Halp?
  • Went to the Bangalore-PC-market – SP Road – on Saturday and helped my friend get a new nearly-state-of-the-art computer for less than a codemonkey’s month’s pay.
  • Picked up some minor hardware for myself (which mostly needs to be exchanged except…)
  • New! Creative EP-630! Woo! Well the bass response is far flatter than the PX-100, and surprisingly the overall output is weaker as well. Otherwise it’s cool. :)
  • Not much quizzing for me – I’ve scaled back apparently – I’m just as surprised as you.
  • I use Delicious to bookmark now. Comes in handy!
  • I think I’m switching the blog to 1-2 categories and multiple tags. Better? Worse? Should you care? Should I? Who can tell!

That’s enough rambling for now.

More later. I think.

Bye.

    Nimish Batra:

    @Life Mysterious: Yep. Brigade 4ever!

I think I’ll have to add a large section about the books one day, on a separate section.

BTW, Congrats – that was the 1500th comment on the blog. :)

Oh! Indeed, please put up that separate section. I would be grateful!

Nice to read you again. Been a while, sorry about that. Happy new year!

Sounds like you’re well. I don’t care how you organize your blog as long as you keep putting your thoughtful care into it. :)

Twitter sucks. So does Facebook. I think this whole internet thing is just a fad.
